The Phoenix Label

In 1994 Mike Wilde took the then unusual step of forming his own imprint to coincide with the release of the first PLUS EP, `Come and get it´ in Sydney, Australia. The title track of the same name was licensed to `Wonderworld´, (a popular Channel 9 infotainment program) in the same year. The track proved to be so popular that the band later made a guest appearance on the show.

PLUS went on to record a second EP for Phoenix. A video for the song `Fasttrak´ was picked up by Rage, (Australia´s all-night Music Video Program) in January 1996.

Later in the same year PLUS appeared on `Home and Away´, one of Australia’s most successful TV exports, performing several tracks from the EP. While mastering the record at EMI’s 301 Sydney studios, Don Bartlett, (a legend in Australian music circles) remarked to MW that Phoenix was ten years ahead of it’s time in terms of the way that Artists would market themselves in the future.

In the case of The Phoenix Label Don’s statement proved to be true.

It was not until 2004 that MW, now based in Sweden, formed his production company,
The Phoenix Music Group.
It would take another four years to build the infrastructure necessary for The Phoenix Label to be ready to release MW’s first solo album,`Special Stories´.

`Shaking´, a bonus track on the album, was licensed in 2006 for inclusion in the film
`Komma Hem´. After a successful run at the Gothenburg Film Festival the film was picked up and aired by SVT (the Swedish National broadcaster) and other networks in Scandinavia in 2007 and 2008.

The Phoenix Label currently works exclusively with MW’s catalog.
This focus gives us the freedom and flexibility we need to establish effective, personal working relationships with Labels, Distributors, Film makers, Music Supervisors and the growing number of Artists keen to record and perform Mike Wilde’s compositions.
