Mike Wilde

Mike Wilde began his career as a musician fronting Sydney Punk/Funk darlings `Holiday´ in the late 80’s.

Studying voice and movement while continuing to hone his song writing and performance skills, he eventually founding groove outfit `Plus´.

The band recorded two EP’s and appeared on:
Wonderworld (CH 9)
Rage (ABC)
Home and Away
(CH 7/ One of Australia´s most popular TV Exports).

He also became a sought after vocal and performance coach and enjoys coaching to this day.

Via the streets of Amsterdam and Berlin his path continued as a Journeyman musician and actor, eventually settling in Gothenburg, Sweden. Over the next few years he appeared as an actor on a number of SVT productions:
`The Sixth Day´(2000) SVT Drama
`Commissioner Winter´ (2001) SVT Drama
`Familjen (The Family, 2002)´ SVT Drama (9 episodes).

Spotted on `The Family´ he was asked to front `The Man Band´ on vocals and bass. This hybrid group mixed up the borders between Rock/Pop/Soul/Jazz/Cabaret and even the Blues. The band proved immensely popular, holding down a week long residency at The Gothenburg Festival (Göteborgs-Kalaset) and worked steadily on the Swedish west coast and Norway.

At the same time he continued to refine his studio skills, collaborating with Scandinavian musicians and producers as a writer/arranger/producer and session musician and jamming regularly with a number of groups, including The King George Blues Band as a sideman/rhythm guitarist.

Mike Wilde began to appear as a Solo Artist in 2005, while studying at Gothenburg University. During this period he was contacted by Swedish Director Jenny Mases, who wrote a part especially for him in her Film `Coming Home´. It debuted successfully at the Gothenburg Film Festival in 2006 and was aired on Swedish and Finnish TV several times during 2007/2008.

In `Coming Home´ Mike´s character Jack sings `Shaking´, an original MW composition, which has been included as a Bonus Track on his Solo Debut Album, `Special Stories´.

Since the limited release of `Special Stories´ in April, 2008, songs like `Big Fat Angel´ have seen Mike Wilde receiving accolades from all over the world, both for his unique writing style and impressive vocal performances.

Mike Wilde may be a Journeyman but in his case it’s a journey that’s been well worth the wait.
